Confused by EQ? Want to know how to use it properly? Rob Mayzes has written a superb article illustrating how to use EQ the right way, avoiding the pitfalls that many new to music production make – such as boosting everything (all knobs up to 11 please!).
Whatever musical genre you produce, EQ is one of the major tools that you’ll need to get familiar with to help tame, shape and mix your tracks.
From cutting out unwanted frequencies in individual sounds (such as bass frequencies from lead sounds or ‘harsh’ ear melting high frequencies), to EQ’ing an entire mix, this article is a great primer.
These techniques are applicable to all music production. Well worth a read!
