Audacity – Free Audio Editor Updated!
November 15th 2017
Our favourite free audio editor ‘Audacity’ has had a major upgrade! If you’re not familiar with his PC and Mac application, it’s possibly the best choice for users who need to record and edit audio files – absolutely free!
Along with it’s pre-existing fully featured audio editing and recording capabilities, the new update introduces MIDI file playback with a simple piano roll style display. While it’s not possible to edit MIDI, it’s a great way to preview your files from within the app.
Audacity also comes stacked with it’s own super-useful audio effects suite, including the ability to locate and fix clipped audio: a god-send for anyone who’s spent hours recording some great takes, only to find that the best bit of your file’s got an annoying clip or crackle! Other effects include filters, phaser, reverb, time stretching and a whole lot more.
It’s also possible to use VST and Audio unit effects, making this editor a serious choice for producers on a budget.
The PC version also support visual themes for it’s GUI, allowing you to customise the look of the editor.
You can download Audacity free (it’s donation ware, however you can use the software 100% free).
