Free Filter Plugin: Xfer Records DJM Filter

Filters! Everyone loves a good filter sweep and virtually all modern electronic music makes use of them. There’s nothing quite like twisting that filter knob – virtually everyone here at DMS does that ‘filter face’ when presented with the bite of a resonant high pass! Most DAW’s come with some kind of built in filter in their plugin suite, from Ableton Live and Logic’s Auto Filter plugins to Cubase’s Dual Filter.  But there comes a time when you just want something new. Something with teeth, or perhaps something smoother. 

Late to the game as usual we’ve just discovered Xfer Records free ‘DJM Filter’, a handy and very compact plugin that DJ’s will instantly recognize as an emulation of Pioneer’s DJM series filter.  This nifty plugin comes as both PC VST & Mac AU/ VST, meaning that everything can take advantage of this free bit of kit.   Performance in our test was super-smooth with great resonance and a nice filter drive control too with very pleasing results when run over entire tunes as well as synth busses and basslines.  Recommended for anyone who needs access to an easy to control hi pass/ low pass filter: for free!
